About the Linked Digital Future Initiative

The Linked Digital Future initiative seeks to enhance the discoverability of the performing arts. Our goal is to help the sector leverage the potential of linked data technologies and to foster collaboration along the performing arts value chain. There are five areas of focus.

Important Advancements of the Web of Data

Some call it a semantic web, others refer to it as the web of data. But what matters is what it can do for the performing arts: enhancing digital discoverability and fostering data reuse across the value chain.

Uniform Resource Identifier (URI)
One thing, one unique identifier: a simple way to avoid confusion or ambiguity across the web.
2004
Resource Description Framework
A new way to describe things and their relationship to other things over the web. The formula: subject – predicate (verb) – object.
2012
Wikidata
A free and open knowledge base for all things in the world.
Present
A sector-owned knowledge graph
A place to identify, describe and interlink the things that are so unique and wonderful about the performing arts: Artsdata.ca
