2021 was another year of ups and downs for the performing arts sector. Mostly downs, in fact. But there was one particular cheerful moment for the growing community of performing arts wikimedians.
In spite of the pandemic, CAPACOA, Conseil québécois du théâtre, LaCogency, the Bern University of Applied Sciences and many other partners I stayed the course with Wikidata activities:
- We resolved ontological challenges related to performing arts information representation in Wikidata;
- We documented best practices in the WikiProject Performing arts and in the WikiProject Cultural venues and,
- We delivered hands-on workshops to help artists and organizations achieve a more interconnected digital presence via Wikidata.
These efforts did not go unnoticed.
The WikiProject Performing arts won the Ecosystem Award at WikidataCon 2021, the international Wikidata Conference!
The Ecosystem Award celebrates projects that showcase how institutions and Wikidata can grow and thrive together.
You can watch the awards ceremony on Youtube.
This fall was so busy with workshops and presentations, that we barely had time to share this wonderful news beyond our immediate community. As 2021 comes to a close, it feels good to think of this particular high note.
Let 2022 bring more of these.
