Topic: Wikidata items for dance and theatre productions
Date: Wednesday, May 4, 2022
Time: 3:30-5:00 p.m. (EDT) / 19:30-21:00 (UTC)
Facilitators: Simon Villeneuve and Miguel Tremblay
This workshop focuses on the creation of Wikidata items for dance and theatre productions. Describing a performing arts production in Wikidata involves listing all contributor roles, as well as stating relationships to the production company and to the work which is realized in the production.
This fourth workshop is intended for artists and cultural workers, beginners and experienced wikimedians alike. It has two sections: a theory introduction followed by guided practice, which allows participants to assemble different statements into a comprehensive production item.
What is Wikidata?
It’s a free and open knowledge base linked to Wikipedia. Like Wikipedia, Wikidata is also source of information crawled and trusted by search engines. For this reason, Wikidata can be a powerful discoverability tool.
