DESCRIPTION:CAPACOA’s Linked Digital Future Initiative is pleased to partner with the Manitoba Arts Network to host this free workshop opportunity to help music artists improve their digital presence using Wikidata! \nDate: Tuesday\, December 14th\, 2021\nTime: 2:00-3:00 p.m. CST / 3:00-4:00 p.m. EST \nWhat is Wikidata? \nIt’s a free and open knowledge base linked to Wikipedia. Like Wikipedia\, Wikidata is also a source of information crawled and trusted by internet search engines. Having a Wikidata entry is an important first step in making information about the performing arts sector findable\, readable and reusable by search engines\, by industry associations and by fans. In a way\, using Wikidata is like creating an IMDb for the performing arts.  \nHow this workshop will help you?\nIn this 1-hour session\, you will learn the basics of Wikidata\, including how to create your own entry to describe yourself and your work. Participants can expect hands-on learning through demonstrations and guided practice in a relaxed and informal environment. By the end of the workshop\, you will have achieved greater control over how people can find you – and what they can find about you – online.
