DESCRIPTION:CAPACOA and CQT’s “Everything you always wanted to know about Wikidata in nine workshops” series continues with its third chapter! \nTopic: Introduction to the Wikidata Query Service\nDate: Thursday\, September 10\, 2020\nTime: 12:00 p.m. (EDT)\nDuration: 90 minutes \nThis hands-on workshop\, the third in a series of nine progressive workshops on Wikidata\, is intended for a beginner audience. The objective of this third workshop is to introduce you to data search and retrieval in Wikidata. The Wikidata Query Service (WDQS) is a powerful query service and it is the fastest and most efficient way to search and retrieve a batch of data in Wikidata. \nLog in instructions will be provided upon submission of this registration form. In addition\, we will send an email reminder a few days before the workshop (make sure to check your spam or your Promotions or Notifications tabs). \nOn the workshop website (https://linkeddigitalfuture.ca/wikidata/)\, you will find the pedagogical contents of the previous workshops (1 and 2) and details on the upcoming one. DESCRIPTION:This workshop will offer an introduction to Wikidata and other Wikimedia collaborative platforms. Wikidata is a free\, open\, structured data platform that anyone can edit. Adding information to Wikidata can boost the visibility of Canadian artists on the web and contribute to the interconnection of information across platforms. The workshop will include brief step-by-step instructions for editing information related to music artists and venues in Wikidata. \nThis session is useful for artists and managers who wish to participate in CAPACOA’s ongoing Wikidata Workshop series. \nThis event is FREE for CAPACOA members. She holds a Masters degree in orchestral music performance and is completing a PhD in the Humanities Department at York. Her dissertation is on love songs and the Canadian band Arcade Fire.
