SUMMARY:Wikidata workshop 5: Edit a person in Wikidata
DESCRIPTION:CAPACOA and CQT’s “Everything you always wanted to know about Wikidata in nine workshops” series continues with its fifth chapter! The first four workshops covered all the fundamentals of Wikidata in a show and tell mode. This and subsequent workshops will now take on a participatory approach.\n \nTopic: Edit a person in Wikidata\nDate: Thursday\, November 12\, 2020\nTime: 12:00 p.m. (EST)\nDuration: 90 minutes\nFacilitators: Simon Villeneuve and Miguel Tremblay \nThis hands-on workshop is part of a series of nine progressive workshops on Wikidata and is intended for a beginner audience. Over the course of this workshops\, you will be guided by skilled facilitators through a series of practical exercises on Wikidata editing: adding statements and qualifiers\, providing references\, linking to external identifiers\, etc. The focus of this fifth workshop will be editing performing arts persons in Wikidata. \nRegistration\nhttps://bit.ly/3iYqwqG \nLog in instructions will be provided upon submission of this registration form. Further to your regisration\, we will also invite you to choose data items you would like to publish on Wikidata\, and we will offer guidance on how you can prepare for that. In addition\, we will send an email reminder a few days before the workshop (make sure to check your spam or your Promotions or Notifications tabs). \nAtelier en français le mercredi 11 novembre 2020 à 19h00 (HNE) | https://bit.ly/2G7Kn8j \nWhat is Wikidata?\nIt’s a free and open knowledge base linked to Wikipedia. Like Wikipedia\, Wikidata is also source of information crawled and trusted by search engines. For this reason\, Wikidata can be a powerful discoverability tool. \nWikidata and the performing arts\nThis workshop series is part of a larger project aiming to model and populate performing arts data in Wikidata. This project is led by CAPACOA and the Conseil québécois du théâtre\, with LaCogency. The project is funded by the Canada Council for the Arts\, the Government of Canada\, the Wikimedia Foundation\, and the Government of Québec.
